Arriva London focus on CCTV wins awards

21st Century Technology are proud to congratulate Arriva London on their recent success at the On-bus CCTV awards. The awards, presented by the MET Police and TfL, are designed to reward those using CCTV to combat crime and anti-social behaviour on London’s buses. This is the third time the awards have been announced, and the second for which Arriva London have earned the accolade for Best Bus Operator.

Arriva London’s focus on high quality footage, a quick turn-around for requests and high availability of footage was key to regaining the title. The good news continued however, as Paul Bonny, Senior CCTV Analyst for Arriva London, was presented with a special recognition award for attitude, technical support to police and work towards successful use of CCTV on buses.

21st Century Technology and Arriva London enjoy a long-established and successful relationship using CCTV to ensure London’s bus network remains a safe and pleasant environment. Since the requirement for CCTV on London’s buses was introduced, TfL figures show that crimes per passenger journey have fallen consistently, and travelling by bus remains the safest way to get around the nation’s capital city.

Lynne Beale, UK Bus Projects Manager for Arriva comments, “It’s great news to see all the effort and hard work of everyone involved recognised. For a truly successful on-vehicle CCTV solution you need dedication across the board, from a supplier that will provide you with the most suitable elements, staff in the depot who ensure the smooth running of the system right through to individuals like Paul, who epitomise the commitment we make to ensure our vehicles are a safe and comfortable place to be”.

Mark Johnson, On-vehicle systems Divisional Director for 21st Century Technology, added “We couldn’t be more pleased for Arriva London and Paul in particular. 21st Century Technology have had a close relationship with Arriva for many years, and are not only immensely proud of this achievement, but of being able to assist them in setting the benchmark for the future”.
