21st Century Technology is sponsoring Arriva Yorkshire’s MAD (Make A Difference) Award for the most economical driver. The annual MAD Awards recognise individuals who have made a difference to the business and are awarded by customers, colleagues and managers.
The ECO Award will be judged on the data received through Arriva’s use of EcoManager, 21st Century’s award winning fuel management system. EcoManager assists drivers in adopting a more economic, smoother and safer driving style by highlighting when braking, accelerating and cornering is done correctly or otherwise through an Integrated Safety Device. The ISD lights a series of red, amber and green lights on a ‘real-time’ dashboard display according to how efficiently the bus is being driven. Management reports show how well each driver is doing in terms of fuel economy and smooth driving.
EcoManager has been in use on Arriva buses for two years and has cut fuel costs by 12%. Passengers have also reported improved journey experiences, and even accident rates have been reduced.
The Arriva MAD Award for ECO driving will assess individual drivers on their performance over twelve months and reward the most improved driver.
The Arriva Yorkshire MAD Awards are being presented at a special ceremony at Elland Road, home of Leeds United Football Club, on Saturday 2nd October.
